Description:
I can't believe I'm messing with this thing now, since it's already on my very expensive business cards, and also my website and various client forms... BUT... it seemed a lot of you guys had issues with the type on my previous version (http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/134898), so I took a stab at toning down the type a bit, to allow the icon to really shine. It's still custom, but much less busy. I still like the concept of icon and type being interconnected, and the way I've rendered it here seems a bit more logical than my previous version. I also played a bit more with the varying thicknesses of the strokes, and introduced different sized dots, to really enhance the "explosion" effect. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about implementing any changes just yet; I still have about 900+ biz cards to give out first. Just wanted to test this out to see what you guys think.

David, are %3C a href %3E tags not permissible anymore in descriptions? I put one in there to link to my old logo, but it doesn't show up.
ReplyI love it man, perfect work.
Replyyep ... great little ID piece av ... very nice lift !!!
ReplyThanks for the comments, guys. **OK, so how quickly can I give out 900 biz cards...?
ReplyYou could send me a bunch, I'll keep one for myself, and hand out the rest!
ReplyThe type on this looks much better!
ReplyThanks, Rich! Maybe there's a subtle way of working this into my materials.
ReplyThis looks much better!*Really interesting mark.*I red your description on V.2 - I like your imagination.**P.S. I'll appreciate if you could help me choose my logo.
ReplyDamn, and I was starting to get used to the other one %3B)*But sooo glad that you decide to experiment further with the type because now instead of the mark and type fighting with each other for attention, its now complimenting each other in a big way. Once again I applaud you for your bravery!**And I know what to do with the b/cards. Print the new type on pink fluoro adhesive paper and stick it over the old type. Ta-daa! %3B)
ReplyThanks for the comments, guys!**@Norman, man, if it were only that simple.
ReplyCongrats on the feature Jon. Great work!!!
Replydidn't expect anything else ... ;D ... congrats Jon !!!!!!!!!
ReplyCongrats Jon! Well deserved!
Replycongrats )
ReplyCongrats dear fellow.
ReplyReally loving the carbohydrate feel of this one.
ReplyThere's something very taking about this logo, it's abstract yet invokes very specific thoughts and emotions in me- perhaps because I was heavily involved in chemistry in my university days.
Absolutely stellar work.
oh yea, congrats!! much deserved!
ReplyWhoa. I just opened up my LillyPads newsletter email and saw this news. I'm really blown away here. This is a totally unexpected surprise.
ReplyI'm extremely thankful for the recognition and for the opportunity to be regarded in the same light as the legions of respected Featured designers that have come before me - many of whom I've admired and looked up to for years.
But I'm also completely humbled, because I can think of a number of talented, hard working designers that are more deserving of this title than I.
Big thanks and respect to David and the entire LP collective for not only bestowing this honor upon me, but also for tirelessly working to promote the efforts of talented designers around the world. LP has and will continue to be a major source of inspiration for me, and I will do my best to uphold the integrity of this status by continuing to work hard and furthering the field of identity design.
Thank you Josh, Bernd, Milosz, Artem, Roy, Thierry, Orun, and Florin for your kind words.
JON, I'm glad justice has been served this month, all the best form this moment on bud!
ReplyAnd Orun, you've touched on essentially what I was trying to convey with this logo. Check here for my full rationale:

I really appreciate the warm compliment, Rudy.
ReplyYES Congrats, WELL deserved my friend.
ReplyCONGRATS, Jon. Admire your work and your efforts to usually share your strategy and thought process in your logo development. Always inspirational, bud.
ReplyWell deserved feature.
Mike and Mike, thank you so much for the support. You guys are legends. I can't even begin to tell you how influential both of you were to me back when I realized I wanted to focus on identity design - and how much I stalked your respective work when I was still a lurker on this site!
ReplyCongrats Jon! Figured it wouldn't be long before you were featured. Nice work!
ReplyThanks, Jeff. You're another one I've looked up to for some time.
ReplyDear Jon , I thought you've been already featured (:
ReplySo let me congratulate to you as well.
I wish you the best !
Yeah, LillyPads newsletter email seems like a big surprise machine :)
ReplyFirst of all I would like to congratulate you on deserved title. Totally deserved mate. Secondly, I want to thank you for the inspiration that you're spreading through your works and logo case studies. Many of us have learned from these cases.
And third and most important, I would like to congratulate you on the big day that you expect impatiently :)
Big congrats Jon!
ReplyCongrats Jon!
ReplyYou da man Jonny boy!! Well done mate... Massive congratulations. Stoked to see you featured buddy. Sending a huge high five across the pacific ocean your way.
Reply@Szende, thank you for the warm wishes. As you know by my constant praise of your work, I'm a huge fan. You're doing a great job at keeping the quality bar set high within our community, and I know you will continue to produce killer work.
Reply@Jovan, I really appreciate your kind words, man. I'm glad my work has influenced you, and I only hope that it serves as an inspiration to others. Keep up the great work!
@Roko, thank you kindly for the appreciation, man! Love your work!
@Carlos, thank you for the kind wishes, man. You've definitely impressed me over the years, and as you know, I'm a huge fan of your work. Your illustration skills are top notch, and your ability to create cute logos is second to none. Keep it up!
@Matt, I'm gettin' all those hi-fives, but they're more like mid-height threes after that crazy long flight. But it's the thought that counts! What can I say, man? Not only have you been a constant source of inspiration to me, you've been quite the mentor and friend, and have been nothing but accommodating and helpful ever since I first started buggin' ya a while back about how you were making those kick-ass presentations of yours. I'm gonna attach a Foster's Oil Can to a boomerang right now and throw it your way. And if I'm ever in your part of the world, you've gotta take me surfing. Afterwards, we can throw a 'roo on the barbie, and get ridiculously drunk and laugh at each others' accents :D
Seems I got a little late to the toast...
ReplyCongrats Jon, much respect for your work/process and all the feedback that you offer. Cheers man.
Congrats!
ReplyGrats, nice work man!
