First i saw the pipe smoker, then I saw a fat guy with a giant handlebar mustache. Which I think is awesome haha.

I can't see this fat guy :) Thanks for comments. It is important that around 50%25 would see the white face, and other 50%25 - black face. I tested this symbol also in real life and it looks that just around 20%25 get the white face first. So I must emphasize it more.

I saw the pipe smoker and then a fat guy with a handlebar mustache. Didn't see the Shhhhh guy until I read your descrip.

Try flipping it. Both in color and in direction. Or is it important that he's white and facing left?***side note, the pipe is the white dude's mustache, and the hand becomes his (very large) chin %3B)

That's pretty cool. I saw both immediately but first the white, thought it was a guy picking his nose :)

I saw the black side first and then had to read your explanation to get the white side but I'm a little slow. :D Very cool graphic. It would be interesting to know what this is for.

I see the fat guy now :) Thanks for explanation. Although the fat guy was unintentional. Great news that at least someone saw white guy first. I plan to use this graphic symbol for the explanation of free will myth. You can see something similar here: http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/freewill1.html

The mustache man is just a funny side thing to me %3B) Here, now that we have a little context, there are a few things that speak to me, all in relation to the arrow analogy used in the link.**There the arrows are balanced. While I don't think that they necessarily need to be the same exact shape as each other, I think the images we are looking at need to be balanced in not only form, but also context. Why did I see a mustache? probably because the first thing I saw was a man smoking a pipe, which I then (quite comically) relate to a man with a large mustache. A man making the 'shh' motion has nothing to do with a man smoking a pipe if that makes sense.**Second, the arrows are not contained. If the box had a green border around it, i'd put my money on more people seeing the green arrows first. I think that's another factor of your mark. Because the images are contained in a black ring, it automatically makes the black image dominant. Kind of like if the entire background was black, and the ring was white, the white figure would definitely be dominant.

@Climax,**Curious what made you think it was about stroke victims or disabilities? Trying to see something to make that connection but can't see it right now

I am also curious about that disabled victim.... ?**nathantrafford: yes, that makes sense. shhh man has nothing to do with the pipe. but both images have something to do with the free will myth: 1. nicotine dependance is a good area to discuss free will and 2. shhhh man can relate to this quatation %22Yes, free will is a myth, but let’s not tell the public. The truth might send them on a hedonistic rampage, might produce more cheaters and fewer cooperators. The time isn’t right.%22**And yes, black ring makes black image dominant. I can use this to emphasize preferable image. Thanks for your insights. They help a lot. I have to work on this symbol some more, so that the forms and meaning would be balanced properly.

femili, nice to hear that :)**now we have:**black profile - 6*white profile - 2

I have tried to explain the meaning in comments above. Later I will write a clear concept.

I think I saw the black profile shortly before the white one. But I think the reason for this is that it's already on a white background, so naturally, the BLACK would stand out first. It would be interesting to see this same graphic on a black background, or even, a gray one.

Yup, the only way the really give them equality would be to have them both separated from the background. Whether this is by changing the value of the bg or the colors of the mark.

It might be a good idea. I will try...

I found both without reading the description. At first I saw the %22shush%22 man, then I became curious if the black side forms anything and found man with a pipe. Nice!

First thought was a guy picking his nose. Sorry!
