Why not move the type up so the baseline is aligned with the white guy's chin and his eye aligns with the dot on the I? Maybe it would be too high?

Thank you @samdemastrie for your feedback. Actually i've been exploring with these alignments in mark vs type. Still not really feel happy with the overall look in balance. Hope to fix this soon.
