Replyi like this a lot, the mark especially!%0D*%0D*Hey cseven, how come a crown of thorns for an orphanage in India? I associate a crown of thorns with Christianity and Jesus Christ?
ReplyHello! Where did Mother Theresa do God's work?
Reply@ theartistt - Hola! For me, a crown of thorns and it's association with the crucifixion of Jesus is hard to connect with orphans and india. I understand Mother Theresa was there, but I don't think of Mother Theresa when I see a crown of thorns.
ReplyIf it is a Catholic Orphanage, it seems appropriate, if a bit gruesome. Orphans go through so much, however. I guess the image of suffering is not a stretch here.
ReplyI see what you are saying about the suffering and horror of being an orphan. I guess though I would want to see a logo for hope. Parents who are selecting an orphanage to adopt a child would look for a logo that promotes hope, promise for a better life, etc. thorns and blood doesn't seem to fit the role of finding homes for children, IMO.
ReplyHi All, interesting comments...*The logo appeared on the back of some T'-shirts made by Christians and sold to church members, which in turn raised money for a Christian orphanage in one of the poorest parts of Ambala, India. Check out http://crownofthorns.co.nz*As to why we chose the crown rather than hands and feet or something more 'gentle' - it points to Christ's suffering for mankind and to his words to %22take up your cross%22, part of which is easing the burdens of others.*I realise that not everyone accepts the Christian faith, so hopefully we won't cause a religious debate %3B ) This is about the logo after all.....
ReplyNaw, or at least no more than usual. Gyui and I do a bit more than most when it comes to throwing in historical or faith based observations. I don't think we ever take it too far...**For a t-shirt design this is very good.
ReplyThat's cool Trish - I'm starting to get a picture of the different 'commentators' on LP and am enjoying the banter : )
ReplySuper cool mate.
ReplyThanks Mads.
