I like it but do you think it could work with just the 1 monster since it is hard to see the other monster?

Very cute! I sort of interpreted this as a parent/child relationship, and so the 2 monsters added to the concept of family reading time. In that case, the execution needs a bit of tweaking. If that is not a significant part of the message, then you could simplify to one monster. Good job!
