Description:
Our friend Mike Pinette asked us to design a logo for him, that represents people who have both Naskapi and Innu ancestors.
We drew a traditional drum, and used ancient patterns from both Innu and Naskapi coats. Naskapi and Innu people painted on caribou hide, often using red and blue pigments. The Naskapi (ᓇᔅᑲᐱ) word for child, ᐊᐛᔅ, is very similar to the Innu word for child, Auass. So in the center, they are combined in Innu lettering and Naskapi syllabics to honour that shared heritage.
