My goal with design has always been to not give the client what the client wants, but to give the client what the client needs.
Strangely enough, I find inspiration in my emotions, so when I design, I try to 'feel' the emotions that the design is meant to invoke in the target audience. It's also a great way for me to organize my thoughts and put them on paper (or in a computer).
