Description: In the information technology world, routers are used to forward data packets between independent networks, creating an overlay internetwork. The standard icon used to represent these devices in a network topology map consists of a cylinder with two arrows facing outwards and two arrows facing inwards on the top face of the cylinder (Google Cisco router icon, or see reference image). The goal of the logo is to convey the concept of collaboration between government and industry. Because ACT-IAC's mission (to serve as a facilitator for industry and government to collaborate and exchange information related to information technology) is metaphorically parallel to a router's behavior, the logo employs an abstraction of the standard router icon by having inward and outward facing arrows extending in and out of the letter A (in ACT). In addition, the letter T (at the end of ACT), and I, (beginning of IAC), have matching dents that piece together like two matching parts of a jigsaw puzzle. This further suggests the idea of connection, movement, action, and collaboration between the two sectors. Besides the metaphorical reference to the router icon, the arrows and color selection are also references to the previous logo and brand identity (please see web address or reference image), which has been used for over 10 years to represent the organization.
