Description: I researched more into symbolism of Kali, the triangle, as well as the sun and stars on the Philippine flag. I wanted to retain a triangular feeling without actually placing a direct image of a triangle into the icon. I derived the rays of the sun from the flag, but deconstructed the symbol varying the sizes to imitate the sun's pulsating and asymmetrical movement. Although the three stars are not placed in a triangular fashion, I felt the power of three still retains the meaning while at the same time emphasizing the subtle circular shape of the sun. I chose a typeface named “Beach - Savage.” I found this typeface applicable not only because its coincidentally appropriate name but because of its use of slight serifs at the bottom of the letterforms, reminding me of feet and the use of footwork that is so important in the practice of Kali.
