Do you play Piano, Martin?
ReplyIt reminds me of http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/40832
Replyya it came out nice but this idea is used earlier lot of times..
Reply@bitencourt no I do not play piano :)**You are the first people to see the piano resemblance in this logo.. Now I can't see anything but keys! Grr :)
ReplyI see your avatar is pretty much identical to my previous personal ID I used for years... %3B)*%3Ca href%3D%22http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/93116%22%3EHERE%3C/a%3E and a quick play on it %3E %3Ca href%3D%22http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/68941%22%3EHERE%3C/a%3E
Reply@michaelspitz it's similar perhaps because we have both used the same letter. This logo was of course made without any reference to your logo (or any pianos :))**Additionally this concept was conceived in 2005 when I began college if we are going to play 'this game' %3B).**However judging from your portfolio you seem to be a fairly experienced designer, perhaps you could offer some advice as to how I could avoid standing on other deisgners toes?
ReplyHey Martin - You are not stepping on anyone's toes, nor do you have any cause for concern. **Some people in this community think nothing exists outside of it.. and if you are new here, they think you should have scanned though 50, 000 logos before you post, which is just silly. Keep posting, have fun, and don't worry. That M shape has been done since the early 1900's and later in the 50's as an E (rotated). **If there are any legitimate copyright issues, someone will bring it to your attention, trust me.**The logo some members are referring to you is an unused proposal anyway...and as I have seen first hand on this site, it is perfectly normal to rob someone else's concept and do it differently. 'S.I.D.E.'**Anyway, having Michael or Rudy look at your work is quite the privilege in itself.**
Reply%5EI told him to say all that...
ReplyYeah, similar concepts will always be acceptable. It's the execution that has to be unique...and yours is.
Reply@raja Thank you for the reassurance and kind words :).**@ocularlnk I totally agree.**I think to claim any creation to be completely unique is foolish. Considering that anything created is a mixture of inspirations, and the things we take in at a sub conscious level.**This is of course my opinion. I have much to learn from the desgin world :)
Reply%22I have much to learn from the desgin world %22**the design world is small... the world of internal medicine... now thats big...
ReplyFor the ID %3E It's definitely not something I'm worried about... Of course Raja's quite right, in that similar symbols have likely appeared many times throughout history, before you or I ever considered taking a crack at it... That's what you get dealing with fundamental geometry %3B)**As for the advice, all I can say due diligence... Run a search for 'M' logos, do a background check for whatever you're working on, and I can guarantee it'll save you some heart ache in the end. If anything, 'strive' to be innovative vs repetitive (either voluntarily, or involuntarily). Both in your work, and obviously in your personal ID. Rehashing design from the past is pretty much inevitable, but I always like to believe that there's still a small percentage out there left to tap...**Cheers!
ReplyJust kiddin' Martin! :)
Reply@bitencourt I presumed as much :).**@michaelspitz The advice is much appreciated. I agree completely but this problem does always trouble me inside. Often it feels like no matter what kind of 'research' I embark on some gap will be left. Which will be quickly filled with 'hey! that looks like this'.**Regardless, striving for that original percentage is what I shall endeavour to do :).
