Love it. Very effective in my opinion. You could even take out the slight 3D effect and make it flat color and it would still work really well. I'm not sure about the color. It takes a fairly vibrant design and makes it frigid. I mean I love purple and silver, but they aren't colors you would associate with this style of design. Have you thought about using a redder purple? That would add some warmth to an otherwise cold logo.
