I started my career as an art director at JWT Detroit working on Ford Motor Company, in a very interesting group called I2I Creative. It was here where I learned the importance of strategy and the art of telling stories that speak to a particular audience.
After a couple years of long commutes an opportunity came up in Grand Rapids where a few years earlier I had graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design. Justice and Monroe was a night and day difference from JWT. It was small and not only was I an art director but also a producer and a designer. That's a long way of saying I gained experience that only a small agency could offer where employees play multiple roles and everyone has a voice.
From J&M I returned to large agency life working for Hanon McKendry on national, regional and local brands that ranged from non-profits to corporate giants.
My philosophy is simple. Strategy is key and simple smart ideas work. I always look for the story behind a product or service and strive to tell it in new, exciting and relevant ways.
