Just a few thoughts if you don't mind... I'd lose the ball since it's coming from a wrong direction. If you decide to leave the 'metallic effect' on the letters try to transfer it to helmet and the bat. And 'baseball club' should go to the left a bit since it's almost touching the swoosh at the left side. Overall it does look nice but it would be a hard application since it has tons of super tiny details to it.

The final version of this logo not only had the ball, but there were eyes on the ball too. You can assume that this was done for kids. But since they wanted the logo without the mascot then the ball had sense.
You're right about the metallic effect- it is not necessary.
