This block party benefits E4C School Lunch Program which feeds hungry kids in our local schools, every year by closing down 104th Street , right in the heart of the city, between Jasper Avenue and 102nd Avenue in order to stage an everyone welcome block party. Events throughout the day involve the majority of the businesses on the street.
There is an on-line silent auction fundraiser, free Pancake breakfast, “open door” festival style wine tasting of over 50 wines, outdoor fashion show, free Port and Single Malt tasting, DJ's, charcoal barbecue, Yoga on fresh green grass that blankets the street, patios offering local organic produce and craft-brewed beer, City Market vendors, and more!
I wanted to represent the creativity this event always has by emulating a brush stroke which doubles as a symbolic expression of 104th street. The actual street that is closed down for this event. The styled "l" and "f" also echo the long street as well.
