The pirate guy is great, Alen. His bandana knot looks like a scissors too.
ReplyThanks a lot Sean, great observation my friend!
ReplyVery nice Alen!
ReplyThanks a lot, Fabian!
ReplyArrgghh...cool concept Alen.
ReplyVery nice mark. The font isn%B4t as strong, but it looks like you%B4ve already made a good effort to find a balance between the traditional pirate look and something more up to date and readable. However, I am not sure if the anti-pirate statement is visually strong enough.
ReplyDOPE! Very original concept or the idea at least! Font is on point - only area where id like to see more strengthen would be%3B the mouth area and the shape a little reminds me of the shell logo: http://www.terrorfreeoil.org/images/logo/Shell-Skull-Iran-Animated.gif
ReplyRoko, thanks a lot! How did the exams go?*Barry, thanks for the opinion. If you can notice there's no lower jaw, and the skull itself sends more of a 'doom/death/end' message then just some 'happy pirate floating around' kind. The visual solution screams out 'pirate' style and that might seem pro-pirate, but the idea was to get some attention to the brand/website in the first place and then to elaborate the problem/process step by step...*Joey, thanks, the Shell connection is a stretch but then again that might not be that bad - pirate - sea - seashell - fossils - dead pirate! %3B)
ReplyYes, I noticed, but a skull (and bones) is the classic icon of a pirateship flag.
ReplyDo you want to look like this guy? :)
ReplyBrilliant!!
ReplyHere%B4s what I meant:%0D*http://free-brushes.com/uploads/posts/b-pirate_skull_and_crossbones.jpg%0D*http://www.leehansen.com/clipart/Themes/Pirates/images/jolly-roger-tattoo.gif
ReplyOronoz, thanks!*I know what you meant, but here's what I meant: http://www.stock-xpress.com/acatalog/PICS/toxicind.jpg*Is this pro-pirate?
Replyohh dope! now i get it the lack of emphasis on the jaw represents pretty much like %22the end or crumbling%22 of piracy! haha.. not bad! :)%3D

ReplyI get what you're going for, but I find that the use of pirate iconography (skull %26 bones, font) is a tacit approval of piracy, since people don't emulate the style of something they dislike or are against.**Also, I think saying %22you illegal downloading pirates%22 is (consciously or subconsciously) going to antagonize anyone reading the tagline. The 'you' is unnecessary and maybe even hurtful to the campaign.**
ReplyInteresting comment Billy.
Replyperhaps it should say %22ye%22 instead of %22you%22? :)
ReplyHey Billy, thanks for the comment. I answered partially on similar one earlier but here to add something. The 'you' part is here for those who really are the ones this program is being developed for - if you don't find yourself in this tag line or being the one that this message is sent to, then it's all good! *For example, probably the best known slogan of all times, Nike's ''Just do it!%22 - you think 'Adidas people' went to Nike stores and bought Nike shoes just because slogan told them to? This is a killer slogan and a very strong brand philosophy, but most of the people were like ''do what, man? what should I do now? I won't do it, who are you to give orders of such?'' etc... Yah know whut I mean? :)*This tag line is set up for those who need to get this message. Period.
ReplyBy the way, really flattered that you commented on my tag line on LOGO Pond... If it evoked some reaction I did my job... %3B)
Reply%22This tag line is set up for those who need to get this message. Period.%22**So, is it targeting online file traders? If so, then it fails, IMHO. They'll laugh at it. The term 'piracy' is more of an industry term rather than a consumer term. **It's a lovely illustration. I just don't think it's on target and the message is off.**
ReplyDarrel, I appreciate your opinion - logo is in use, tag line is in use, client is more then satisfied with the result, sometimes it's hard to show the whole idea behind the brand vision here where we can post only the logo (which of course IS the CORE of the whole story/message, but the way you will develop whole branding system and use visual communication elements also counts, or should count).
ReplyVery nice
