Description: ACTT’s mandate is preventing rather than addressing at-risk kids. By flagging potential at risk children in junior high school, ACTT is proactive rather than reactive. Children’s boarding and tuition fees are raised so that they may leave the unhealthy environment that spawned their risk for destructive behaviors. Healthy and loving families in small communities are selected to host each child taken under the wing of ACTT. The slower and more intimate setting of a close knit out-of-town community, along with the healthy home atmosphere in their boarding environment transforms children from at-risk to assets. The combination of a close knit community where each individual has some communal responsibility, slower-paced living, and smaller classes in school enables these children to develop healthy relationships and habits.
