Synesthesia is very cool, and I know someone who is lucky to have it. I'd make the letters less heavy, and more 'ethereal' in approach. Blur the borders, don't make them heavy. Synesthesia is about blurring the borders between certain senses and ideas about how objects are to be perceived. Many different variations of this ability, but most seem to report color is a perceived part of the identity of either sounds or numbers. Yes, make this more ethereal in appearance, not just blobs of color. I hope you're not a synesthite, as you've got a strange way of showing its application. No offense intended of course.
