strange name for a design company considering the historical connection of the code name.

Point taken people, however the name stays people i have had it for 17 years... eish! We are a design company not bank we have the latitude to be out there and funky, I created the name to be a talking point, to open lines of dialogue, i never shy away from been out there, our tag line is %22agents for change%22 %22agents for design%22. It was all part of the Agent Orange brand evolution and case study, if i could take such a negative name like %22Agent Orange%22 and out a positive spin on the name then imagine what i can do for your brand. We are based in south africa, for most south Africans the name is not offensive.

I personally think from a business and professional point of view that it would be bad taste to use it as a name for design, maybe I am to conservative, one has to google Agent Orange and view the images of people effected it by it. The globe is such a small place one never knows what part of the world your clients will come from next, Hi we are Agent Orange and we want to help you with your brand, some might raise an eyebrow to that? No.*Anyway brandon barnard is a really interesting name, two b's, mongram? 'Brand' 'on' literally his first name (sorry for referring to you as the third person) has brand in it... theres lot that could be done with that.**To finish of there is somethings that just cant be touched because of historical connections, the swastika, a beautiful icon around thousands of years before the Nazi goons got there hands on it...**Any its up to Brandon... my 2 cents.

Just googling the term gives me the willies. There's so much negative connotations there. If you like it, fine, but the name could hurt you in the long run.

thanks for your 2 cents! *i really enjoyed what you had to say Mdseven**it is always great to get contrasting views from around the world, if we all thought the same the world would be one boring place, Agent Orange has been going for since 1996 company and the name has not hurt us in any way infact it has worked for us...**funny enough all my afrikaans speaking friends call me brand on...****

A possible tagline could be %22Don't google us!%22**%3B%5E)

but isnt this all backwards?.. i mean... %22agent orange%22 was the chemical used by *US troops*.. killing/maming thousands of civilians... and yet its still cool to have the stars and stripes and an eagle... but dont mention agent orange... how many know zyklon B?... but we all hate the nazis and the swastika for using the gas right?.. i dunno... maybe its me.. but really seems like selective %22forgiveness%22... **aannyyywwaayyyy... brandON is cool.. would be very surprised its not already taken..

Reply
logomotive Apr. 29 '10

Yeah my great relative Betsie Ross designed the stars stripes so I think they are cool :)

you know what i find so surprising is that i have been on logopond since 2007 - 3 years right, and i have posted many different agent orange logo's and only now do i get this reaction to the name - eish!**why the delayed reaction? *why the strong out pour now and not 3 years ago?**Don't get me wrong i do not take offense, it is very interesting to hear all your thoughts and opinions, that is why we post our designs onto logo pond.** **

raja Apr. 29 '10

also don't google 'clarica logo' or 'punctuation logos' **on a serious note, I think using one of the dudes from Men in Black with a giant Orange head would be a safer idea as it would make it more clear that you are not referencing 'Nam

@Nido- That's just the way it is. China was responsible for some of the greatest mass killings of all time, but the %22Chinese Army%22 wouldn't hold the same weight as %22Tienanmen Square%22 if you added %22Design%22 to the end of it. **I would go with Raja's idea, or something like it, if you're dead set on using Agent Orange. Good luck man.

%22brand on%22 is great but would be too focused on me, too much ego in the name and would alienate, my team that i work with, Agent Orange Design is here to stay, the name has been going since 1996 and we have an excellent name within the South Africa design and advertising industry. We have also played on the agent aspect, i am agent black, we have agent red cherry, agent beats so the list goes on and our tag line is %22Agents for Design%22... so the name works maybe not within USA although we do have USA %26 international clients and they have only responded well to the name - it was talking point for sure. saying that, i don't we would get a Vietnam Vet giving us any work, eish - thanks for all the feed back guys but maybe lets put this baby to bed now?**
