Description:
Runner-up logo, designed for a catering company who loved the design but ultimately wanted to go a different direction than the typical chef/catering icon. They didn't take into account this logo was far more original than the typical chef/waiter icon :)

ReplyA while ago I got bashed up because of the obvious origin of my concept - hope, you won't get the same treatment: http://media.onsugar.com/files/2011/02/08/2/895/8958412/6f18e7e8ba2a0ac6_vintage_pinup_3_.jpg NICE WORK!*@ClimaxDesigns: couldn't resist %3E:D*
ReplyAh... now I feel bad.
Replyso sorry for you ... i like this piece ... great work !!
ReplyI think that was a good call however, not only close but no doubt was an inspiration. The Secret is getting the Ladies to pose for you :)
ReplyI don't want to debate this, only to point out, that this is not unusual way of approach. Good example: *http://www.identityworks.com/probono/Starshine.htm*http://digital.coolspringspress.com/rp_articles_images/images/1949.jpg *And I can understand, that DC strictly wants to keep his gallery place clean from designs, which probably could run into law problems later. All is fine.

Reply%22I wonder if the people at identity works has seen those links%22 - well, they even reported about it. It seems, as this is one point, the creators are proud about. I've rrqad about it in various books too. %5Bironic mode%5D At least it needed two top designers to do it.*I'm leaving that topic now.
Replyrrqad %3D read (bad typing morning)
ReplyNothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable%3B originality is non-existent. And dont bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: Its not where you take things from - its where you take them to. Jim Jarmusch
ReplyI am far too busy designing timeless, killer and totally original logos to respond to these comments right now but I will explain it in its entirety someday how it was a tribute piece and many hours of development went in to ensuring it wasn't a complete rip-off of that famous painting, which, btw, IS now public domain. If you look at my body of work, you will see I'm not in the habit of taking other artist's works and calling them my own. My logos are all totally original and custom and outside the box, but there were certain circumstances with this logo in which the client insisted on a certain philosophy of their company and I will explain it all and you will see it was the only way to go. ...research the original Starbucks logo and you'll find they did and almost complete copy of an old historical siren from greek mythology that was public domain. Tell them they ripped-off their brand and I guarantee you might not have much support in your argument. http://www.deadprogrammer.com/starbucks-logo-mermaid/ (the top B%26W logo is a scan straight from a history book about mythology)
Replyyep ... our problems are totally different ... but I agree absolutely with you ... man ... I like your work !!
ReplyHaha, and btw, talk to me about stealing and your entire opinion is stolen: http://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/314980.Jim_Jarmusch
