Love this. Though, curious about the combination of %22independent%22 and %22chain%22 in the same sentence. How can booksellers be independent when......they're part of a chain? Please elaborate%3B intrigued by the company now.
ReplyYou have been busy JF - thanks for the comment. In fact the idea of being independent and also part of a chain is pretty straight forward. Each of the stores are independently owned and operated businesses, but are members of the larger group by way of a voluntary membership that allows the larger group to make bulk purchases and have greater buying power for its members. As opposed to your typical Borders stores that are, well, simply a monolithic chain of stores each one a cookie cutter replica of the other following a corporate mandate from head office.
