Description: How Charts Can Be Used to Support Information in an Article 8. Pictographs. You cannot add this type of chart to any article since they sometimes look inappropriate. Basically, such graphs are made of pictures which are put on top of each other to demonstrate growing or declining tendencies in some things. I think you remember simple polls we all took at school when trying to understand some mathematical or statistical principles better. Thus, we could draw a paw next to a pet we like the most. Later a teacher would explain that a pet with the biggest number of paws next to it wins. This type of chart is not for kids only. So, one can always use it when illustrating their article. However, they should watch the tone and make sure that this chart is appropriate. 9. Column charts. These ones use vertical bars which generally go in pairs. Thus, one can opt for this type of chart when showing company’s performance. Create a column chart in which one bar will represent sales, and the other one will stand for the expenses. They should stand together so that a reader can analyze the difference between them as well as see how a gap between them changed in the course of years (for it, you will need to add years as a category to the X axis). It is very convenient and straightforward, so your article can get to a new level of excellence with it. 10. Map charts. Map charts are used for demonstrating data with geographical maps on the background. It is great for showing statistics by countries and demonstrating how certain aspects take place in different states. The last thing we would like to mention is that charts are not as hard to compose as one might think. In fact, to craft them, you do not need special technical knowledge, but you will definitely benefit from using them! So, why not give it a try?
