I am a self-trained graphic designer with an engineering background. Thus my attraction to the subject is more about solving a communication problem... rather than an abstract notion of "art for its own sake". A further philosophy I have is that anyone who has time to verbally criticize someone else's work should also make time to follow that through. So if I comment on your logo please do not be offended if edit it to show what I mean--I'm just trying to put my design pen where my mouth is! It helps me practice and get better too.
