Well its what is called a holding company which all the various business' they own come under they wanted a generic symbol which alluded to motorsports which was their main business at the time.

The W mark is really eye-catching. I took this for a symbol of sports that involved balls, like basketball, baseball, tennis, etc. And I don't know if the type needs to be as stylized because the mark is so strong....

noted and agreed .... on the type not seeing the sports link a tad tenuous forward linking to Quartermile might inspire another type of symbolism ... perhaps i was too close
