Description: Done pro bono for a starting woman Gynecologist. The symbol is a geometric/abstract representation of the female reproductive system. The client expressly asked not to depict a pregnant woman, because where she works, she wants to make people conscious of all the other vast services a Gynecologist gives.

Status: Nothing set

Commenting: Not seeking critique, comments fine

I'm not sure how I feel about this. that isn't abstract it's blatant. couldn't you find something more interesting about the industry?

ClimaxDesigns said on Feb. 09 '07

omg! yeah this is a bit much i think lol, gets the point across though ;)

OcularInk said on Feb. 09 '07

Well, it works. :^) But yes, it might be a bit too much.

This is a joke, right? It has to be a joke.

senterbrands said on Feb. 09 '07

LMFAO!!! :):) So abstract that it makes sense!

logomotive said on Feb. 09 '07

Hey at least you did a superb job of visual. I knew what it was even in the thumbnail. Perhaps an abstract rose or flower might have done the job and not been so extreme. Also this is from a doctors "view" not the patient. I guess you could say it will grab attention.

smartinup said on Feb. 09 '07

wow, i really hope this was a joke, or maybe i really hope the doc will go with this. man o man. at least its well trimmed. good work.

LOL! I didn't know how much attention and controversy this symbol might make! I know it's "too much", I also thought of it. I actually consulted with women for this one and they were not offended by it, they thought it was abstract enough and that you could know for what it was just by looking at the symbol, they liked it. And yeah, of course, the Doc liked it too :)

It ain't a joke!

i like this, it made me smile, but then ive checked out the rest of your showcase OMNI & i must admit bro you got some serious style, i loved em all...

If a simple straight forward message depicting the female anatomy has to be conveyed then it can't be represented in a more beautiful way than this. Remember that whats less abstract to us designers might be less obvious to the untrained eye therefore more time is spent absorbing and adjusting to the image and its message. Yes, an exquisite showcase Omni.

Women want compassion and comfort when ongoing these sometimes invasive procedures. This is way to confronting%u2026maybe something as a lotus flower might have communicated a warmer message.

The Gynecologist I did this for is a woman and she definitely didn't want any stereotypical image of a pretty flower symbolizing women; besides the fact that it just looks like you would want to blatantly hide the reality of it or depict it as if it's something sweet & nice. Think about it, it's as if you made a "cigar" or "tie" symbol for an Urologist.. It's just a narrow-minded way of depicting people.

man i got it from the thumbnail, very daring approach but to be honest its lovely and professional, really good work in your showcase. what about a logo for a male-reproductive-system doctor? how can you abstract that? :) maybe this should be a logopond challenge :)

OMNI said on Apr. 16 '10

LOL, yeah that'd be the next one. But it all depends on the client, if he doesn't want to go as bold as this idea that's too bad :(

AlexWende said on Apr. 16 '10

omg i love it, i think it's pretty good! You've done a great job abstracting the "reproductive system" but maybe a less realistic colour could help to make this one a little bit less offensive?

I'm sorry, don't wanted to spam your post... does anyone know what's happened to Chanpion?

logoboom said on Apr. 16 '10

I'm glad the client wasn't a proctologist.

Tabithakristen said on Apr. 17 '10

This would be much better in a different color. The colors are making it too obvious I think =x

OMNI said on Apr. 23 '10

When I made the presentation there were different color options. The client (the actual Gynecologist) chose this one ;-) cheers.

From the design point of view I like it a lot. And somebody says my filmcock is controversial :) :)
