not a competition. dont need to give yourself a rating.

besides, your "ari" kerning seems a little tight.

Sucka, why do you even care then?

because people are flooding the top picks and the real designs are getting lost. wouldnt mind seeing people treating this site with respect. thats all. ass.

hey if someones kicking you while your down would you let them? or defend yourself? if one were to vote a 5 for his or her logo they have that right just as some vote a 1 out of pure nastiness for a good 4 or 5 logo. Thats all.

howdy stranger, maybe we should take things over to the forum?? anyone?

Oh wow! I go away for a day, and all this? Sounds like someone is jealous. Thanks for backing me up Mike. And for the record...I never vote on my own logos. ;) So whoever did give me the initial 4 stars, I really appreciate it.

This isn't a real design?

Also, does anyone else think the kerning is too tight? I'd like some more feedback on that.

Thanks all!!

honestly I am in agreement about the server concerns. The site is flooded right now with junk. This logo imperticular is ok though.. not standing out that much though.

Suckerfish, be mindful of your comments to other members, your 'a%^' remark was uncalled for.

To set the record straight, I gave this logo a 5 and his other logo a 4 as their first vote. Keep in mind people the voting system is not an end all be all, its just a piece of the puzzle.

As far as this site being flooded with 'junk', please create 'nonjunk' and upload it =) we will no censure what people upload, because that is not the purpose of this site, One persons 'junk' is another persons '5 stars', this site is just as much a learning experience as it is a showcase, so please view it that way.

I am not trying to flame or make this about elitism but honestly disagree with you about one persons junk is another five star... Good logo design is respected, regardless of taste you dont give a 5 star to something you dont love but even if you dont love it and respect it you should give it a good score. What i see is logos that are good getting negative results when they get to the top because their scored higher than the logos they submitted so endlessly the logo scores go down on the good stuff... Now This can all be changed by making the scoring system having more than a 1-5 stars rating.. you give like 4 scores... good typographic treatment, originality, conceptual thinking, and maybe layout.

This will weed out anyone trying to just cram stuff on to this site... and good designers will respect it. and I THINK anyone that scores should be held responsible enough to defend their scores with a remark as well for positive or negative criticism. You may think thats over board and maybe alot of work to set up but thats what I want as a viewer to this site, maybe someone will create another site like this eventually who knows... theirs clearly demand. Plus Protecting our logos rights is another thing, say for instance someone who goes out of their way to rip us on the site for one of our marks try to create some sort protection for us. why should we place our marks up here if their not protected? right? ... sorry for turning this into a flame.. I appologize like I said ocular your logo is fine, I gave it a 3 stars out of 5, the only weakness is the typographic treatment.. imo

Thanks Sisu, but I would appreciate it if everyone would stop jacking this thread any more with their rants, and resort to the forums section. It's not very respectful. ;)

kevin, were you trying to go after that..what is that thing called that they squeeze to make lettering on cakes with? That's the feel I got from this, that you can squeeze that shape and pump out ink

The ultimate goal with my typography was to evoke fluidity. The letter forms all follow the same basic forms. This type solution was all created from scratch. So, yes it was my intention. That is also why the kerning is so tight. This way the 'O' appears to be pushing out the ink. That's also why I chose to rotate the trademark the way I did (Refer to the rest of my logos). On my stationery, the entire logo has been rotated 90 degrees like that of my trademark so the ink appears to be dripping/squeezed out. Thanks for your feedback.

I believe the real rating is by the number of view and votes... not the number of stars. If a logo generate enough interest it immediatly shows up by the number view and the number votes. Personally I attach more importance to an interesting logo than a beautiful logo... but if a logo is both interesting and beautiful... it get my 5 stars.

Hey Kev, really Like this logo, its very interesting, epecially the first part of it , I do agree the kerning is a little tight, just a little. Did you design this typeface?

Nov. 19 '06

OcularInk said:

Thanks, man! With all the feedback on the kerning, I'm beginning to think I should rework it. And yes, I did design the typeface. However, the 'a' and 'r' were based on another font. Thanks again.

At first glance i loved the logo (thats key) and after further examination i still like it. I only have 2 things that stand out to me as a designer.

1. the bridge between the O and the C, it seems a bit pointless and i think you can do with out, i hear what your saying about fluidity but your not applying it to the rest so why there? it makes me feel like i should be looking for something or there is something special about the O&C.... thats just me.

2. the kerning. hmmmm... look in to it, but im not saying it should be changed.

feel me? word. good job.

OcularInk said:

Thanks, VineCreative.
The bridge between the O & C was just to further imply the Ocular part of the name (I also wear glasses full time, so that was another thing I wanted to show with my identity. The fluidity comes from the forms of the letters and the overall logo. When applied to my stationery, it is rotated 90 degrees with the drop at the bottom. This further evokes fluidity by showing the ink droplet pouring out of the logo.

Word.

nice logo! the little 'squeezer' thing on the left side reminds me of the psyop bird (www.psyop.tv). not saying you copied them obviously, just reminds me of it.

it took me took long to figure out.
seconds matter.

i've made logos like that before.
it's almost too cool for readibility

OcularInk said:

I appreciate your feedback tmoline. However, I think it can be a good thing when the viewer gets the chance to study a logo. This only helps with the branding. On the other hand, legibility still is very important. Thanks again.
