The ligature between the y and the a feels a bit forced, probably because the stroke width of the y is considerably thinner than that of the a.

agreed, it seems to me the dot on the i and the logo are supposed to resemble each other, yet i find them fighting with each other for attention. i would keep the i clean and let the logo speak.

i concur with the above statements. but i really like this though...where it's heading at least. the "y-a", the dot on the i and the symbol are all competing with one another. too much to look at. but really though, i like where it is going a lot!!

I love the mark. Well proportioned and unique. Although I don't have a clue what (if anything) it symbolizes. Like the others I'm not a big fan of the logo-type. Too much seems too contrived and not elegant enough. Perhaps drop the 'a' x-height back to normal and transition the 'y' from there. Also give the 'c' a little lovin'. Looks like taffy that's been pulled too far.

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. About the icon/symbol portion - it's an illustration combining elements of a flame, a flower and an antique grammophone tube (old record player). I think it fits that band's music well.

who found out ligature :P

I like, but the 'flame' is quite similar to the logo of a resturant in Dubai called Sezzam. http://www.sezzam.com/ This is brobably no issue since a Sacramento-based band and a Dubai resturant are literally worlds appart. Good work regardless!

yea its similar but flames are all similar, I dont think that a restraunt from dubai can claim the symbol for fireball :)
