I have that version if you would like to see it. I understand what you mean by logo more clean and corporate and I agree mostly but that does not make this NOT a logo. Take Starbucks as an example.

I think you\'re stuck in the 1980\'s or early 1990\'s. For the hell of it, I took the logo and printed it on a small scale and it looked just fine. OF COURSE you lose some of the detail, that\'s a given.
If you think every logo needs to be flat, solid 2D shapes with little detail that must be scalable then I feel you need to rethink your career b/c it\'s 2006 and logos are only going to advance.
Try not to be so close minded towards other people\'s work.
