On my day off, I decided (for some crazy reason) to create the team crests for all 13 Quidditch teams in Britain and Ireland. They are not sanctioned or approved by anyone anywhere.

This is the first one I designed (blame the alphabet). It turned out pretty good, so I went for a second.

is quidditch a real thing? (outside of harry potter of course :)

I actually agree with you about the silver gradient. It was just a cheap attempt to make it look shiny.

And on the name, most European sports teams stick to a crest-only approach to the sports logos, so I tried to remain to to that idea.

I should say, OLDER European sports teams stuck to a crest-only approach. And since this team was founded in 1612, I figured the logo was designed before the days of popular typography.
