I love the illustraction... but I think the font is too bold... Because where the logo is in a smaller resolution I can't read very well the sentence... I'll try to change the font...

I agree with mdlogo85, the font is too bold and doesn't compliment the mark. Here is one suggestion/example which may get your creative ideas sparked:

^ Exactly! Saawan is a good designer, I'm sure he can spark his own creativity.

@mdlogo85: Thanks for the feedback.
@alto: I really appreciate that you took time to critique and suggest changes. Thank you. The brief says the logo shouldn't carry 'kidswear'.
@gthobbs: Thank you very much for your support, Glen. I really appreciate it.
@Relevant: I take it as a compliment. ;) Thank You for supporting, Jon.

make the legs black or make them thicker with the brown

saawan said:

I was swaying between brown and black and your suggestion asserts that they should be black. :) Thank you, David.

This new version is better than the other... I love this font, good choice... And if you add the foot to the "L"...

Jul. 14 '08

saawan said:

Thank you, Dario. I don't think adding feet for the chicken would go well with the sans serif font. For this kinda simple illustration, the solution I chose suits better.

Now it's very strong. I love it.

Something is bugging me about the legs, but this is a really cute and solid logo. Have you tried using straight L's for the legs? I think that would create a better balance.

Nice work

saawan said:

@gthobbs: Thanks again, Glen.
@OcularInk: I tried using lowercase L's for its legs but the perspective is getting disturbed. They look like two sticks! As long as the readability doesn't suffer, I guess the disoriented L's serve as better legs in perspective. I'm just posting the logo with straight l's for reference. Thanks for the feedback, Kevin.
@cerise: Thank you, Cerise. :)

nice rhythm with the type, the bird is a little to detailed. I prefer the perspective one, looks like the birds on stilts.

Climax, i meant the beak, I should have said. I don't think there is a need for the extra color.

tomollo said: mh, there already is a logo out there for a while: "chicken" and "little" - just in french stand in for kids wear...someone should rethink that branding....

Jul. 16 '08

hellouriah said:

tomollo: what.. that looks like it was done in paint.. and bears nothing similar to saawan's logo.

Jul. 16 '08

relevant said:

...and it looks like the type was done with a typewriter.

Great concept and type treatment - and I like the legs at the angles currently shown in the gallery. When the legs are straight the image becomes too stiff and it loses the "kid-like" quality that would represent a children's clothing line well.

Jul. 16 '08

saawan said:

@tomollo: I don't think the one you posted qualifies for a professional logo of a decent brand. But, if you're suggesting 'someone' as the petit poulet people then I agree with you that they should rethink their branding. Thanks for the reference, though.
@hellouriah, relevant & borinagge: Thanks for the support, guys!
@Jeff Fisher LogoMotives: Exactly! That was why I left the l's disoriented. It gives a feeling of wobbling in walking that's seen in infants. Thank you for the assertion.

OcularInk said:

Yup, it looks much better the way you have it. Guess I just needed to see it with straight legs. Thanks for posting that up. :-)

Great logo! Didn't have to touch a thing on the first one! Works perfectly because you can change color of the bird, maybe later for some wear lines and stuff (like ages, sizes, stores...). Great!

sawaan,
I saw this logo, evidently after the changes were made, I was very intrigued about it.
I think this latest version is very strong and really supports the notion of a child product line. Great choice of typeface, the legs really add to the playfulness of the mark. Great job, I love it (certainly better than "petit poulet") :)
