- SMAS-SINTRA is a public company responsible for the drinking water network of the district of Sintra in Portugal as well as the waste-water service. The logo is based on a typical form of Portuguese painted, tin-glazed, ceramic tilework called 'azulejo'. This art was introduced in Portugal by the Moors in the 15th century and since then has become a typical aspect of Portuguese culture. This 'azulejos' are found on the public mourish fountains of Sintra (UNESCO World Heritage Site: 19th century Romantic architecture).
