The name actually has something to do with the bird being the symbol. Subio in spanish means raised, lifted etc. The client wanted a bird perched at the type to signify the meaning. But I don't deny that it reminds people a lot of the MINE logo.

I like the illustration style, but I too find the angle of the bird disconcerting.

Its wings look at rest, suggesting it is stationary. However if one draws a line up from the bird's feet then it intersects with its head just behind the eye, leaving the vast majority of the bird - and its centre of gravity - considerably to the left of its feet.
