dache said:I dont think its a good selling point to have unkept chefs as this logo portrays.

logomotive said:dache, I'm going to have to disagree, to me I feel as if the chef really into his work.Does not say unkept but hard working and into it.

Jeff Fisher LogoMotives said:I agree Mike (logomotive). I think the illustration style adds so much to this identity. Not only does it convey the working chef aspect - it also has an almost Asian watercolor painting quality to it.

OcularInk said:Yep, I agree with both the Logomotives as well. @ Jeff - "it also has an almost Asian watercolor painting quality to it." I was thinking the same thing.
Again, nice work NOMA.

spasquini said:I think the the dirt in the mark does not fit so well with the image of a restaurant.
The design is nice but the connection between dirt and food can be misunderstood.

dache said:OcularInk: Of course you do.
Hard working does not mean filthy. Every presentation photo you see of a Michelin star style restaurant is classy and clean, not covered in food so that you believe he cooks well. This dirty looks refers more to a rushed, under staffed and unorganized chef.

nido said:Its a logo!!!.. no one with any sense would make their salable commodity a dirty chef/restaurant/food... & no one in their right minds would think thats what this place was implying!... sheesh... you guys live & die by this stuff.. get a life...
nice logo. ill eat there.. they have humor... i like that.

chanpion said:When I saw this in the thumbs I was drawn to it imediately. I also didn't find it 'unkept' as well but rather a deep passion for cooking. And to choose a colour the same as a good red wine was just perfect. Bravo!

chanpion said:Dache: "OcularInk: Of course you do." What the hell did that comment mean. Mate, sarcasm is not appreciated if that was your intention to ridicule Occ's consentment with the Logomotives. Are you subtly suggesting he is a conformist. Just stick with your constructive crit like you have been doing and stop undermining others' comments. That line was just completely unnecessary.

spiral said:i love it! to me it said watercolor and not "dirty", but if that's an issue to some, maybe it can somewhat be resolved by changing the color to something less "dirty", like blue or green?

hyperlogo said:At first I thought the logo looks a little too much like a "bloody" chef hat...like the head chef got mad at his employees or the employees got mad at the chefs head. Either way... This is how the average joe may look at it.
On the other hand I think that artists/or designers can appreciate this logo. I think it was wonderfully done..and after all that scrutinizing of the chefs hat you are taken to the "Very clean" fonts which bring you where the artist (i think) is taking you...to a classy / high end restaurant. So after all that being said... I really like it.

This logo is baller.

melanger said:The only way to resolve this debate is to all meet up in Japan and try this restaurant out, have a chat to the chef and his wife over a glass of wine and of course have a meal.
it maybe due to the fact im listening to cool but eery piano, but in this logo Im see what the other positive commenters have seen. A hard working chef with a passion for what he does. it makes me think about my own passion for food. dammit im flying to japan to try this place out.

Filet mignon (medium rare) with a bearnaise sauce & a side of sautéed mushrooms, with a nice pinot noir... :)
