GCC Skills

PProposed logo for GCC Skills. GCC stands for Gulf Cooperation Countries and GCC Skills is an event they organise promoting vocational education in their countries or regions. The event is held in different cities every year and this year its in Abu Dhabi. The client wanted calligraphy and something that represented 5 or hands. Colours are client specified. This second design is something simple.No calligraphy. Used polygons to represent 5, a star to show that this is an competition plus the crescent and the star is a hint about Abu Dhabi since its a Islamic country. I am REALLY looking for critiques. Help me out here.

I think the previous version was better - the crescent doesn't really sit well with the pentagons. The type is better in this version though!

I just became a member a few weeks back, but I had been surfing this site since the past couple of months. Learned loads just by reading people critiquing other designers' work.
