LogoPond - Identity Inspiration -

Don't mind critiques, but I'm not actively looking for them

Templedog: by Fudog; This logo was designed in 2000 for my inde record label. The brand was meant to nod to earlier times of the classic rave era. Its in black and white because most labels on vinyl are printed in b/w to save on printing costs. it depicts the stone dogs you see in pairs in the gateways to buddist temples, pagodas and the like. Despite its hand drawn look. It is all completed in illustrator as vector art. I thought it's a lion. Is he holding a rock or something in his left paw? it kooks like horse hoof....

It relevant that you think its a lion, because the dogs are sometimes called Lion Dogs in chinese. He is holding a globe. the globe represents thew world.

The real things (the stone statues this design is based on) come in pairs, a male and a female. The female has pup under her paw, the male has the globe (or giant perl).

originally the idea was to keep it cartoony and home made like. although hopefully executed well. I did try fonts but i didnt think it suited the style. the text has been done with a hint of graffetti to it.
