Description: One of three proposed logos for a local anime and manga club I attend. We focus on a genre called boys' love (BL), otherwise known as yaoi, which is a genre written and drawn by women for women, but depicts male homoerotic relationships. I tried to branch out from a rose and consider the exotic nature of the genre. I chose the lotus as another possibility because, like yaoi and anime in general, there is a certain exotic allure to the lotus. The name "BL Garden" also brought to mind a certain tranquil quality I associate with the lotus. Because it has come into question in the past... my logo process starts with me gathering information about the client, looking at photographs and other logos. I draw all my sketches by hand, scan them, and then draw them in Illustrator. I would never deliberately copy someone's work and do not take kindly to false accusations of theft. Any resemblances to other logos in existence are 100% coincidental. © 2013 / mfdesign
