If you killed every single effect in that image, you'd have a strong logo. The type is excellent, and the underlying graphical mark "appears" to look great.. but you really need to kill the outer stroke and inner glow effects.

You know, it does stand out a lot more in the dark background - in a harsher way... It's a lot more subtle on white (for which it was designed). I'll throw up that version and you guys can take a look!

Anyway, check the white (original) version, the mark needed some thickening I thought, so I added the subtle stroke, I agree it doesn't work as well on the dark bg.
As far as effects... I usually prefer clean and crisp, so this is good to know.
