Tiny Brand Studio

by Tiny Brand Studio • Uploaded: Aug. 02 '11

Description: This is a logo design for my own design studio called tiny. For two years I became interested in branding and logo design. My adventure began precisely at logopond. :)

The letter V comes from my nickname VRIEL [Uriel].

However, V, I associate with many signs and symbols. Deer in the design theme is quite popular as I thought at face value, the next thing my name is Daniel ... Daniel in Poland is the name of a tradition of a family of deer "Dama dama dama")

Deer antlers on the wall is a trophy hunter. Similarly, I recognize that my logo is my trophy.

Pencil is a basic tool, a desk and a piece of paper ... so little need to work.

Hence the name Tiny

This is pretty incredible. It took me a few seconds to understand what it was though, which is fine. Really great work.

It's a V and it's also antlers, but am I missing something else? Is the dark spot in the vertex of the V supposed to also be a reindeer nose? Is this some Rorschach test I'm failing miserably at right now? One thing I might suggest: You have such an elegant, wispy openness to your icon, but your type - despite the fact that it's relatively thin and compressed in its own right - feels heavy and weighty accompanying this icon. The compressed type is actually causing the eye to see three thick chunks at the bottom of your design, which detract from the elegance (I think) you are trying to convey. If I were you, I'd think about using a thinner typeface, or perhaps one that isn't compressed. One other thing I just thought about: your icon is causing very natural downward eye movement, culminating on that very central, dark vertex. This, combined with the symmetry of the mark is demanding a very centered alignment, yet your type disrupts this balance. The eye wants the word "brand" to be directly in the center, but because of the varying word lengths, this is not possible, so it looks a bit off. I know it's cleaner to have the type running all in one line, but have you considered breaking it up into three lines? This would fix your center alignment issue, for sure.

Hey Jon, I read it as antlers and a pencil tip. I'm not wrong am I?

AHHHHHHHHH! I think you're right!

Thank you all!

V - vriel - VRIEL (URSULA and DANIEL... Ursula is the name of my wife ;p)

V - The tip of a pencil - it is understandable

V - antlers of deer - symbolizes trophy

Thank you very much for the extensive comment. I will try to use your tips ... You're right on many issues.

Ahh, excellent idea! I actually love that you've introduced a sense of irony into the mark. I think this looks much better, although I might open up the kerning just a bit, especially between the T and the I. Other than that, I say you're on your way to a really nice mark. Congrats!
