Sorry for the commentators of the first colored version of this logo... I had to remove it and place the monochrome version making the concept appear more clearly.

I like the color version better, but this sells the music concept better. I still don't think the type is the right choice.

About the typo... I think we all agree. About the color or non color. I think it's a matter of giving preference to concept or to aesthetic. I for one prefer to give the concept the major role. Aesthetic and design are quickly forgotten, while a good concept stays in the mind much longer... and that's the primary function of a logo... to be memorable.

wow, awesome, very very clever! Even the feeling of the brush strokes are japan-ish feeling. well done noma- but i agree with KGB on the type. but still, really, hats off on this one

Time to jump on the bandwagon. Excellent concept. The icon is perfect. How about a distressed script font of some sort? Even so, well done NOMA.

Thx everyone... I was thinking to propose that one for a logo design contest of some kind... but the typo made me abandon that idea... Really hard to develop a logo with a good concept allied to a good design. The client will either turn down the concept because he or she will find it "too smart" or because they have seen another logo more mainstream with a great impactful design. Here it is really the reverse problem... the client was hooked on the concept and then we did several round of designs and variations... but he was never satisfied because he wanted a multicolors logo to attract kids and I was presenting mostly mono or bi-chrome samples and also because they would be using the logo for signs and needed a big fat typo to make sure it was readable from far away because they had that issue with the previous logo. He pointed out a typo I used in a completely different concept... and that was it.

I really am not too sure about this one. The brushes look like photoshop brushes and therefore, I feel like anyone could've made these in five minutes, you know? I feel like that type is really bold and contained and doesn't fit the looseness of the brush strokes at all.

Very nice mark - I agree that the font choice isn't perfect for this logo, but I like it.

White keys are more true than the Piano Forest logo

This is really cool. I agree with KGB that I might experiment more with type, but this works. Stellar.
