haha very nice

OcularInk said on Jun. 11 '07

At first, I wasn't sure about this one. But with your explanation and now that I see the detail it is truly brilliant.

Craven91 said on Jun. 11 '07

I like where this is going, but I get scared when you say "add more detail."

Don't get too crazy - you are on to something good here.

firebrand said on Jun. 11 '07

Thanks Raja and Kevin.

I think the concept's ok but the execution is giving me a headache.

OcularInk said on Jun. 11 '07

What about trying a version without gradients? Instead use solid color for shadows and highlights. I think it would really come together. Still...nice.

firebrand said on Jun. 11 '07

Dean; I agree, less is more.

firebrand said on Jun. 11 '07

Kevin; Yep, you hit the nail on the head! I tend to shy away from gradients.

logomotive said on Jun. 11 '07

Your on FIRE bro. Kick some but with this one. Yer not far from done.

firebrand said on Jun. 11 '07

Cheers Mike ;-)

added to favorites :)

sabir said on Aug. 11 '07

excellent .. bravo...

the logo itself explains the sole purpose. the saw like teeths resemble the raising curtain.

great work.. keep it up

OcularInk said on Aug. 11 '07

I always saw the 'raising curtain' as well - not an audience. Still loving this one, firebrand. Please post up a version without gradients. Humor me, won't you?!

firebrand said on Aug. 11 '07

Haha. I see what you mean. This one stalled a bit.
Ok d'Oc I'll give it a shot when I get time. :)

webing said on Oct. 24 '07

very nice concept! congrats...
no gradients seems to fit better on your great logo.
-- just an idea -- what about if you make the rays of light in different directions with lens efects over the red area....

firebrand said on Oct. 24 '07

Cheers for your suggestions, Webing. I intend to revisit this at some point.

Such a clever little fruit this one. :-)

Nice work (agree with the gradient issue). Is this the final version accepted by the client? Also, what font did you use?

TernaciousT said on May. 29 '08

Ummm, time for bad puns, I think. Very juicy concept, one I can really get teeth into.....! ;)
I have to agree with taking the gradients out and the type probably needs more work. (Type is my own nemesis when it comes to logo design) The concept is sound though as the stage, curtain and lights form the watermelon perfectly. Its a few tweeks away from being done.

firebrand said on May. 29 '08

Thanks TT. I agree with you on the grads and font. Cheers.

dikkers said on May. 29 '08

Really fantastic concept. Didn't see curtains, was looking at an audience in my mind

Would making them less uniform (to look more like a silhouette of an audience) make it to busy? If so, curtains works well :D

grubedoo said on May. 30 '08

Sweet. With a little fine tunin' (gradients, type) it would be supa-dupa sweet.

firebrand said on May. 31 '08

Gradients removed and type updated.

OcularInk said on May. 31 '08

Nice, dude. I like the seeds as spot lights. Clever.

nido said on May. 31 '08

you know what would be great on this... gradients!

firebrand said on May. 31 '08

I'll throw you off a steep one in a minute.

OcularInk said on May. 31 '08

Effing' hilarious!! HAHAH.

Edward Scherf said on Jun. 02 '08

Pretty nice concept, I'm really liking the idea behind it. Reminds me of this one a little too much though - http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/16726 - Never the less, well done.

firebrand said on Jun. 02 '08

@Edward: Thanks, I designed this about 3 years ago.

logotivity said on Jun. 02 '08

I def like it better with no gradients.. But I would keep the gradient version for a rainy day.. :)

Good spot, buddy, thats not Roy (firebrand) in the flickr showcase so obviously this chad character has been pinching his logos.

JF said on Jan. 29 '10

What a jackass that guy on flickr is. Looks like he has a LOT of stolen logos up there.

firebrand said on Jan. 29 '10

Haha, thanks guys. There are loads of people with collections of other peoples logos on flickr. Who knows why?
