I like this one over the other. I think you could do without at least one of the strokes though and still have a strong mark.

@JoePrince: Just a touch to underline the illusion of 8 and S. I personally don't think the mark would have been as strong with one stroke less. Feels it gives a natural flow and adds to the movement this mark is intended to give. Have a look at "*Studio 8 on Behance*":http://www.behance.net/Gallery/Studio-8-Logo-2/110472 where you can see how the movement is apparent as well as emphazising the S and 8. If you see the elements isolated you see that the S is more apparent in the first stage of the development. That is how I approached it though :)
