Thank you all. There is meaning. Pounamu (greenstone or jade) is very important to the Ngai Tahu, as is the land and waterways. Pounamu is generally found in the beautiful South Island rivers of New Zealand. Blue represents water, green is pounamu, taupe is the land/mountains.
I'm quite familiar with Maori art as I spent about 2 years in Wanganui, NZ during my university days. This one has a very edgy, modern approach to it. Very nice, love it!
