Ah yes, the problem with using part of a graphic as one of your letters. I successfully read "Benice" on first look, but it wasn't the easiest read. I really like the butterfly mark though. Do you really need it to act as the B? I think the logo would still work if the full Benice was typed out beside it.

I like it a lot, but I too was confused between a P and B. I agree with ryantoyota...just spell out 'Benice' and let the butterfly float above it.
Alternatively, spin the butterfly counter-clockwise 120 degrees and see if that reads better.
I absolutely LOVE your butterfly it's simple and beautiful and the font is a perfect match, but I agree with the rest in regards to spelling it out. Nice one.

Once again, absolutely grateful for all your comments. Now that you guys have enlightened me, I just hope the logo doesn't read like 'penis'. (How mortifying!) Anyway, I'm going to run this through the client and see if I can make subtle changes. Thx once again.

Sorry, I read it as a different spelling of Penis. I like the butterfly but agree with everyone that the text should be written and the butterfly the Mark.
I read it as Benice immediately with no trouble - probably because I do try to incorporate graphic images as letterforms so often in my own logo designs to make them unique and keep them from being too mundane.
Locally (in Oregon) the Butterfly Life fitness centers for women have been running ads with a logo using a similar B concept. Yours is much stronger and more effective as a graphic.
Very nice identity.

Thanks Jeff! The client was very happy with the butterfly mark that they actually had it made into different types of jewellery, brooch, hair clip, pendant etc. Since this business is operated in Hong Kong, most residents have a much 'simpler' grasp of English and didn't have much of a problem reading 'Benice' (they actually read it 'be nice'). And it was what the owner wanted to convey, 'Be nice to yourself.'
Thanks again for the kind words everyone.
