What's with the rope coil recently ? It all started with "Emili Carr institute":http://www.ecuad.ca/themes/ec2009/images/front_page_upgrade_090219/ecu_logo.gif logo and then just spread like a fire. On LP alone there must be 5 or 6 logos using it.

Unkempt coil of rope/twine/wire/etc is a very distinct concept. And apparently it is a "hot new trend" now rapidly approaching a design cliche, if not there yet. Emili Carr or not .. even though their logo revamp made it to identity tracking sites several months ago, and it was already labeled as a cliche even back then. But what do I know.
