This is great. It could be seen as many different type marks and the 'abstractedness' of it is v appealing. Publishers are tough clients and in my experience they like things 'boxed off'. The type is nice but just isn't quite there yet maybe??

I didn't initially see the "S" and "P", but I could easily tell it was pages for a book. I also like the font, but it looks like it has been vertically scaled a bit. Not sure if I dig that. Overall great logo though!

The font has not been scaled, it is the extra condensed version of Gloucester MT.
Now that I see it through your eyees, more space is needed between the bird and the ground.
