Awesome, nice job!

muku said on Jun. 15 '09

very nice! i really like the type too, but it seems a bit small.

logoholik said on Jun. 15 '09

^ i agree. Nice mark. Type need some love perhaps. I am not so fond of cocon when set in lowercase. That "i" is always bugging me.

cerise said on Jun. 15 '09

This is a really slick mark

Unit B said on Jun. 15 '09

Outstanding. Thought about posting a single complaint about it, but couldn't come up with one. Just elegant, and nice to look at. Good job.

uneekgrafix said on Jun. 15 '09

chop off the foot on the "i" and you are golden.

fraenacreative said on Jun. 16 '09

Reminds me of the new Delhi 2010 logo for the Commonwealth Games.

choerte said on Jun. 16 '09

Thanks for the comments, everyone.
Well, cocon seemed a good choice considering the mark. Fixed the i and updated the logo, thanks for the reminder logoholik and uneekgrafix :)

Siah-Design said on Jun. 16 '09

yes, very nice mark for the name. Great work!

sdijock said on Jun. 17 '09

Beautiful mark. I agree that the type should be bumped up a tad.

Awesome idea and execution!

AuraRinoa said on Jul. 01 '09

This is great. I love it.
Which program did u use to realize it?

choerte said on Jul. 03 '09

Thanks again everybody :)

AuraRinoa: It's done in illustrator, but the array of the shapes was done in 3dsmax. I tried to do it by hand in illustrator but I remembered 3dsmax has great array tools and it saved me quite some time :)

xeo4ke said on Jul. 26 '09

Seriously a great logo. Love the mark. Mind me asking you if you just rendered out the mark in 3dsmax? Or did you render out the mark as an .eps in 3dsmax then open in illustrator?

choerte said on Jul. 28 '09

Thanks, xeo4ke, if I remember correctly, I only exported the shapes/splines from max to an autocad file format and then imported it in illustrator. Everything else has been done in illustrator.

Hi,

nice logo! Too bad you stole it...

On a recent visit, I saw the new Commonwealth Games logo that Delhi is hosting in 2010. It was too familiar. I had seen it before, somewhere. After many days and nights of the %u2019seen-it-somewhere-but cant-remember-where%u2019 bug troubling my mind, I finally recalled having seen something strangely similar in one of the books I had recently gone through. Lo and behold, I was right.

On page 247 of Logo Design publisher Taschen (Editor Julius Wiedemann) is the logo no.0779 for OLN -Outdoor Life Network proposal. This cannot be coincidence. Or is it? Check it out yourself.

For an event as big as the Commonwealth Games, people should not be getting inspirations from Logo Design books to create another logo. This is quite ridiculous. There is certain national pride attached to such logos or any logo for that matter, one can%u2019t be copying for heaven%u2019s sake. Imagine OLN filing a case of copyrights infringement, what a shame it would be. If you come across the creator of the Commonwealth Games logo, do drop in a line. Here, or to them. Thanks.

(Needless to say, the Logo Design book has been in the market much before the Commonwealth logo came into being.)

Kindly Regards.

well done, I agree about increasing the logo size. Great job man

!mude said on Aug. 21 '09

Love the glowing gradients :)

choerte said on Aug. 22 '09

marsll: Well marsll, I am very sorry to dissapoint you, but I did not steal this logo. The Delhi 2010 is not even that similar to be debating about it and again I am sorry, you can't see that. The OLN logo can be considered a bit more similar in the elements it uses, but I have not seen any of them until you posted the link above, so, yes, it must a COINCIDENCE, these things happen, you know. And I think it's not that uncommon with a twirling, spiral shape like that, which isn't exactly a new thing in design. Besides, leaving Orior aside, did you accuse the creators of OLN and Delhi 2010 logos of stealing each other's designs if you say that they're so similar? Oh, sorry, I see you actually did that, dropped a comment there too.

Thanks grafixidea and !mude, appreciate it.

I don't see much similarity between the Delhi logo either but this one is virtually identical.

very good-looking logo, reminds me of something natural and organic.

JoePrince said on Aug. 26 '10

Why is this not in the gallery? Maybe it was at some point...no?

davishama said on Sep. 16 '10

Good looking one!

nickhood said on Aug. 15 '11

Awesome! I remember seeing this somewhere else on the internet a long time ago. Really unique and memorable. Definitely gallery worthy.
