Jeff,
I would say 10 years was worth the wait. Your logo has been one of my favorites for a long time. It is one of those few logos that the first time I saw it I thought "Damn! I wish I had thought of that first.". You and Rodney Davidson (DogStar) have been two of my biggest inspirations.

Yeah, you wish you would have designed it? not more than I, ha ha I originally had a train but id did not turn out this fantastic and now It's Jeff's identity so I'm left with a DUCK! he he.
The "box" of the logo is being broken by the features of the train. I would set a bounding box, then set and track the type on the top and bottom to fit. Then scale down and fit in the train. Then set the leading of the train between the two lines of type.
Thanks for all your comments - as the logo has served me very well for the last 12 years I don't think I'll be making any changes any time soon.
As for the comment: "i would like it more if it didn't say "jeff fisher""
As my legal business became Jeff Fisher LogoMotives - for the reasons listed in the "As seen on" link above - the addition of my given name to the logo was a legal need, an important personal identification, and a way of defining my business from others with similar names.
i think that in a time where logos follow or fall into trends its gread to see a logo which demonstrates the old school values as this one does eloquently, originally, very stylishly and obviously stands as a testament to the observation/detail he puts into his work . I actually enjoy the name at the top evoking the smoke without being cliche. Kudos my friend...

I'm glad to see your work finally on here. (I'm a HOW lurker) and I've seen all of your identity design previously in books and read your articles on Creative Latitude.
You bring to the table great classic logo design in a world plagued with glossy web2.0 shines and all that other trendy hubbub.
While I'm digging the integration of the train and the type, the inclusion of "jeff fisher" above the train seems a bit out of place. While I understand the intent to keep the logo inside a general "squared" shape, your name feels placed in a very tight spot where it is traversing the cavernous negative space between smokestacks. That name, in a nutshell, is out of place.

Dear Jeff,
That is just Amazing!
i totally like the logo specially the LogoType...
Well, I first saw your logo on Creative Latitude and my first reaction then was "oooooohhhhhh...man that's nice." I hit you up for a couple of critique comments on my company's logo that took me six years to finally settle on. You gave me some great advice. I appreciate you and respect you as a designer. Great work doc!
Still one of the most pimpin' logos ever in my humble o! I still remember the first time I ever saw it, on a black tee and I passed you in the hallway at HOW-N.O.!
