Thanks Nima, I'm not sure, I did it for a wine label. I heard Sirah is the grape they use to make the wine but the name evolved when they brought the grape to Australia and called it Shiraz, maybe someone in LP will know :)
as far as the city in Iran goes here's an extract from wikipedia (I know... wikipedia right... )
__"Shiraz is known as the city of poets, wine and flowers. It is also considered by many Iranians to be the city of gardens, due to the many gardens and fruit trees that can be seen in the city."__
...the name is also commonly used as an Islamic name for boys and means __"sweet"__...
although I do like what you have done I find it oddly strange that an "Islamic" name would be used for a wine label... kinda like calling a pork manufacturer "Moses"...
Shiraz is a variety of red wine also known as Syrah from a dark-skinned grape grown throughout the world. It is nomenclature in the same vein as pinot noir, merlot, cabernet, etc etc. Very common here in the states but perhaps not so much in other places?
He he. Australian Shiraz (or Syrah) is particularly pleasant wine - didn't know about the Iran connection... still think it's an elegant mark either way.
@JohnM: thanks man, just remember that the problem dictates the solution, I needed something like this for the wine label as well as a mark to get the feeling I wanted to achieve, if you want to do something like this, don't forget the what problem is though :)
@gold coast website design: the drawing was quick, I still had to scan and trace in illustrator to make it vector art, and it takes time to make it smooth though, thanks for the question.
