the letters on the sail need not necessarily be dropped, but maybe hand rendered so they don't look so out of place on the awesome handdrawn illustration.

^ Yes, maybe that is what was troubling me before? Perhaps if the boat were in a black silhouette form like the sailor that could help simplify it?
