Wow, this is excellent. Some might say that doing initials is outdated. I say nonsense, just because a strategy is old, I won't throw it away. If it's been that long it's because it works.
Nice colors too, I'd just make more evident the difference of color in the two colors used on the mark.

OcularInk said on Nov. 30 '06

Thanks, OMNI!! I appreciate your feedback. You are a talented designer.

gforce said on Dec. 26 '06

reminds me of my own logo so of course I like it. :)

Great site...just found it and i'm looking forward to getting started on the uploads and comments. Nice work ocular...like your other logos too.

Hey, thanks gforce!! Welcome to LogoPond. I'm looking forward to seeing your work.

I am a fan of this type of logo design. I think the mark is great... not so keen on the colours, but I guess that would have been down to client specifics?

logomotive said on Jan. 29 '07

Yeah, Kevin I like what you did with the G. I also wonder how it would look just solid? seems both G and F might stand out even better. Just a thought.

OcularInk said on Jan. 31 '07

Thanks, guys. And a little update. My buddy who I originally created this for has been convinced to start using this logo as his new identity. So, colors are not final. Mike, I like your idea of having this all one color to make the 'F' pop more. Still not sure what I'm going to do. Thanks again!!

joelharrison said on Mar. 05 '07

this is wonderful!!!
The "L" at the tail end of GLOBAL seems left out in the cold. Do you think the tracking on FEATURE could be extended to help him out?

OcularInk said on Mar. 05 '07

You know, I hadn't even noticed the floating 'L'. I will definitely have to address this. Thanks, Joel!! :-)

nido said on Mar. 15 '07

brilliant! i cant stop looking at it.

b3nder said on Mar. 15 '07

This is very clever. Quite often initials are just layered on top of each other with very little thought. This has been well thought out and exucuted beautifully. top job!!

nido said on Mar. 18 '07

hey kevin i seen a van the other day that had screen printing on the side of it, it was called 'Glass Fitters' & their initials were used for the logo (GF) but man it was sssooo bad!!! it made me think of this & how good it is! (i was going to rip off your logo & approach them lol)

OcularInk said on Apr. 14 '07

Thanks, b3nder. :-)

Dang Nido, they's trying to bite my style, yo!!

myoung1982 said on Jun. 04 '07

very cool, great use of the G and the F to form the mark. Excellent!

Jeff Fisher LogoMotives said on Jun. 04 '07

Beautiful icon!

OcularInk said on Jun. 04 '07

Thanks, friends!!

myoung1982 said on Jun. 04 '07

no problem Ocular, i'm working on my johnclassen photography logo tonight and will post some changes to it. one thing on this logo. I may be tempted to align the Global and Feature with the horizontal guides formed by the bottom stroke of the F for feature and the top stroke of the F for Global, pedantic really but it could work. Thanks

Kliment said on Jun. 15 '07

i love the element!

OcularInk said on Jun. 18 '07

Thanks, guys.

w-ill said on Jul. 01 '07

Hey guys,

I love this logo, and the execution of the concept.

i also have unknowingly used the same idea, for a clothing brand i do work for.

http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/12922

I was so excited when i finished this a couple of months back, only to see a few ppl using the same idea. heh... what do you do?

regardless, i can respect the thought process you must have gone though in creating this, as mine was probably very similar.

well done.

sdijock said on Aug. 14 '08

@ Ocularink - Outstanding mark! Well executed.

@ w-ill - Your mark is excellent as well. Both marks have the same concept but I think the executions are different enough that no one would accuse either one of copying the other. Besides, they play in two completely different business arenas. No harm, no foul in my opinion.

Thanks for the comments and feedback.

rudy hurtado said on Oct. 06 '09

Just amazing! I missed this one for sure, well done.

OcularInk said on Oct. 06 '09

Thanks Rudy. This was one of my first designs outside of college. Glad you like it. :-)

logotivity said on Mar. 04 '10

I definitely see the the G and the F but with it being a different color I see something else down there.. don't get me wrong it's a sick logo either way!

logoboom said on Mar. 04 '10

Always loved this one.

mcdseven said on Mar. 05 '10

A golden oldie... I always liked this one as-well, was one of the first logos I'd seen on the pond.

eziemac said on Mar. 05 '10

Well played on persuading the client to do the old switcheroo

Mikeymike said on Mar. 05 '10

excellent mark. glad the client changed their mind and are using it. wise choice on their part. thumbs up.

JoePrince said on Mar. 05 '10

Really like the mark Kev, but the type seems like it needs work. The kerning looks odd IMO.

OcularInk said on Mar. 05 '10

@logoboom : Thanks man!
@mcdseven : Oh really? That's cool, dude. Thanks!
@eziemac : Thanks!
@Mikeymike : Thanks! Me too.
@JoePrince : Thanks Joe. I've learned a lot since 2005. :-)

mcdseven said on Mar. 05 '10

^ Actually you where the first person to post a critique on one my logos (long since deleted in a bout of self doubt). It was a good critique as well. They where the days when the likes of suckafish and eithne Ranc upload there stuff! Feels like another time all together.

dezinart said on Mar. 06 '10

wow, that's amazing! nice work.

OcularInk said on Mar. 07 '10

@mcdseven : Haha, can't believe you mentioned suckafish. Logopond has come a long way since those days. :-)

@dezinart : Thanks, Michael!

Great initials logo!

Steve1 said on Mar. 08 '10

First of all, very nice logo! But..... while I hate to bring this up, this idea has already been done. Check out GF Business Equipment logo. This is a Chermayeff & Geismar logo done years ago: http://www.pentenrieder.com/popup_image.php/pID/1301 It's also featured in their logo book "TM". Hey, your version is much nicer, but just thought I would bring it up in case you run into any trademarking issues.

ethereal said on Mar. 08 '10

^ Ah, shit, yep, I just checked the TM book I have right here.

OcularInk said on Mar. 09 '10

Thanks for all the comments, guys. Sucks about all the similar GF monogram concepts out there. I assure you, I had never seen any of them. Bummer.

http://www.greenfield-hydroponics.com/

check out this ocularink. i just googled now for GF logo and this poped up. so i guess ocularink, that you copied the logo from them since it looks very similiar to yours.

this company seems to be 10 year old. the website looks 30 years old.

if i would google more i think i would find more samples in this direction which turn maybe similiar. also long before you developed the logo for this global feature company....

i think epsilon is right. combining a G and a F will guide you to this solution somewhen.
