Hmm, interesting idea. The 'Q' enclosure could even work well as a stand alone mark. Have you tried a heavier weighted font?

Yes I tried a heavier font, but it didn't seem to work too well. Maybe I just picked wrong fonts. And yes, I agree, the mark would look good itself, but I'm afraid, the meaning would be lost.
